Pro Chef Quattro - the express food preparation system

When my last food processor gave up the ghost I didn’t replace it and have relied instead on a liquidiser and good, old-fashioned wooden spoons, knives, graters etc.

But then along comes the Pro Chef Quattro. The press release states it is “for anyone short of time and space in their kitchen” – time because the Rotomax gear mechanism means that one turn of the handle rotates its blades four times; space because one item performs so many functions.

I’d add another virtue – it isn’t electric so by using it you are not increasing your carbon footprint! And, of course, doing things manually you could burn off a few calories as well!

What it does:
  • chopping
  • blending, mixing and whipping
  • grating and slicing
  • julienne
  • shredding
  • zesting
  • citrus juicing
  • egg separating

All of the parts are dishwashable.

I made chocolate brownies and pastry to test the mixer which worked well on both counts. The citrus juicer is far more effective than my plastic one but the zester (and I do a lot of zesting!) was fantastic - just taking the zest and none of the pith underneath.

This has a great addition to my kitchen. The only drawback I can see is that the bowl wouldn’t be big enough if you were making a large cake.
